composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt III

..

The traces of proofreading, visible in FE, reveal that the originally printed slur encompassed only the semiquavers in bar 380.

Fingering written into FEH

Fingering written into FED

No fingering in FE (→GE)

Fontana's fingering in EE

..

We include the fingering of FEH in the main text, written probably by Chopin and confirmed by the Chopinesque entry in FED. In EE, Fontana gives the same fingering.

Both fingerings could be coming from Chopin, yet their possible authenticity is unconfirmed.

b. 382

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt III

..

In the R.H. part, FE has only two naturals in the first semiquaver triplet. This inaccuracy, typical of Chopin, was corrected in the remaining editions – GE1 (→GE2) added a  before the penultimate semiquaver of the bar, while EE and EE3 – also before the 7th semiquaver.

e2-e3 repeated in FE (→GE1GE2)

e2-e3 tied in EE & GE3

Tying of e2-e3 suggested by the editors

..

The missing ties of the e2-e3 octave are most probably an oversight – cf. the analogous motifs in bars 381 and 383. Due to this reason, we suggest ties of this octave in the main text. Relevant additions were performed already in EE and GE3.
