The accents over the R.H. could have been written in under the notes – cf. the placement of the markings of in analogous bars 206-207. However, even if this was not the case, the emphasis on the bass's progression and the symmetry of gestures of both hands require the even quavers being accentuated also in the L.H. category imprint: Editorial revisions |

The version of A is the original one, left by inadvertence: in an analogous situation, eight bars earlier, Chopin changed b2 to a2, and in the discussed bar he introduced an identical change in FC and FE. In the case of FE the change was introduced in the last phase of proofreading, not included in EE. category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations issues: Corrections in A , Authentic corrections of FE , Omitted correction of an analogous place , Authentic corrections of FC |

GE1 (→FE) include two whole-bar slurs in bars 451-452, which is a typical distortion of the slurring of A. However, since an ending of the slur was printed at the beginning of bar 453 (in a new line), we assume that the slur from bar 452 reaches – in accordance with A – the 1st crotchet in bar 453. This is how it was reproduced in EE. In GE2 an arbitrary division of the slur before the 2nd beat in bar 452 was applied, same as in all the remaining analogous bars. In the main text we give the slur of A, the only undoubtedly authentic one. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in GE , Errors in GE , GE revisions |

The fingering, perhaps written during a lesson with Chopin, enables to hold the D crotchet in a convenient and firm manner. A similar situation occurs in bar 455. category imprint: Differences between sources |
