In FESB, prepared almost certainly without Chopin's participation, the text of GE2 was repeated, with minor changes and mistakes. The edition covers only the version for one piano (without orchestral parts). The most frequent errors are oversights, e.g. the mark, 2 accents and the grace note in bar 267.
The changes are mainly corrections of the mistakes of the basis, e.g. the change of the semiquaver to a demisemiquaver at the end of bar 267 (an alleged mistake).
On a few occasions, FESB is the only edition containing the correct text, e.g. in bar 273, in which the dotted quaver (written down by Chopin by mistake) was replaced by a crotchet.
ATTENTION! In order to avoid unnecessary complications concerning the symbols illustrating the dependencies between the sources, in notes to particular bars we sometimes regard FESB as belonging to FE, if, of course, its version does not differ from the version of FE1 and FE2. Generally, however, the symbol FE marks Schlesinger's edition only.
