GE2 - Corrected impression of GE1
Publisher: | Tobie Haslinger |

Title: | "La ci darem la mano" varié |
Dedication: | Monsieur Titus Woyciechowski |
In GE2, in addition to correcting mistakes, a number of changes of questionable authenticity or certainly arbitrary ones were introduced (e.g. in bar 257). In a few places, fingering was added, which, although at times correct, does not seem to be coming from Chopin as a whole (see bars 55-58). Therefore, Chopin's participation in the editing process of GE2 seems questionable or, at least, random.
There are copies of GE2 differing in the cover details. In the copy presented in our system, one can see that the engraving plates were already significantly worn out, which is revealed by, at times, very clear traces of corrections, e.g. in bar 4 or 11. It hampers the interpretation of the text; on the other hand, it facilitates the work of editors, since they have a better insight in the creation process of GE.
