b. 41-43

composition: Op. 27 No 2, Nocturne in D♭ major

 in A

Accents in FE

..

To highlight bass notes, in A Chopin used three  signs mid-bar in all those bars. In GE, the first sign was omitted, most probably by accident. In the proofing of FE Chopin removed the remaining two, adding instead an accent under each 1st note of each figure - the total of 6 signs. In EE, some of them were changed into vertical accents.

GE (→FEEE)

..

In GE (→FEEE) the extent of the dynamic marking , was considerably reduced and adjusted to the length of the quaver beam. We adopt that version because Chopin accepted it when correcting the dynamics of FE in this bar.

More probable interpretation of A (wedges)

Dots in GE (→FEEE)

..

The staccato signs visible in A over the first chords may be interpreted as dots or wedges. GE (→FEEE) has dots.

A long accent in A

A short accent in GE (→FEEE)

..

The undoubtedly long accent after  in A was reproduced in GE (→FEEE) as a short one.

b. 43

composition: Op. 27 No 2, Nocturne in D♭ major

A more probable reading of A

GE (→FEEE)

..

The sign visible in A is, in our opinion, a long accent, just like in bar 42. In GE (→FEEE) it was reproduced as hairpins .
