FE5 - Second French edition

Publisher: E. Troupenas et Cie
Date: XI-XII 1849
Plate number: E. T. et Cie. 891
Title: Marche Funèbre | extraite de la Sonate | op. 35
Dedication: None

A separate edition of the 3rd and 4th movements of the Sonata, prepared undoubtedly mainly due to Marche funèbre, which is confirmed by the piece of information added on the title page: "performed at the Author's funeral." The note text was based – for some unexplained reason – on FE3 and not on FE4. It is indicated by the versions of bar 40, above all by bar 84. Among the not too numerous changes, one can mention addition of f in the chord in bar 76 (correction of a mistake), correction of the slurring in bars 18-19 and analog., but also oversights, e.g. the slur in bars 23-24.

The title of FE5 mentions only Marche, therefore, one can ponder what was the motivation of the editor when he was adding also the finale of the Sonata. The German editor limited himself to the 3rd movement only in a similar publication.
