Title: | Etudes || 6me Étude |
Dedication: | Madame la Comtesse d'Agoult |
It was a manuscript (lost), most probably [A], that was base text to FE1, possibly its second copy, corrected and completed by Chopin.
FE1 was corrected by Chopin, which is proved by visible traces of this kind of corrections, which could have been ordered only by the composer, e.g., in this Etude corrections of fingering in bars 51 and 57. However, one can find Chopin interventions also in the case of many other additions and changes:
- numerous fingering additions, starting from bar 4;
- shift of returning c2 from before the 9th before the 5th semiquaver in bar 12;
- and pedalling in bar 31;
- change of B1 into G1 in bar 49.
FE1 lacks a few necessary accidentals (e.g., in bars 29-30, 31, 58 or 59), which almost certainly corresponds to the notation of the base text, there are also erroneous signs (in bars 31 and 33 and 58). In bar 29 there is no octave sign.
