Date: | ⇒1840 |
Title: | Douze Etudes || No. 18 |
Dedication: | None |
EE2 introduced numerous additions and changes:
- fingering drawn from FE was added, completing the indications written in the manuscripts to a significant extent;
- accidentals were completed, among others, in bar 4 and analog., 12, 33, 34, 47-48;
-
signs were added in bar 26, including an arbitrary
lowering e1 to e
1 in the 5th chord.
The copy presented in mUltimate Chopin comes from a later (1843) impression, in which the individual title page was replaced with a cover of the Wessel & Co's Complete Collection of the Compositions of Frederic Chopin series. EE2 was then reissued with subsequent versions of this collective cover (completed with subsequent Chopin's pieces published by Wessel) until ca. 1858, when certain modifications were performed also in the score (see the characteristics of EE3). EE2 also includes copies of this Etude published separately. All versions of EE2 with the collective cover, as well as these published separately, are devoid of an authentic dedication.
