Publisher: | Breitkopf & Härtel |
Date: | ca 1855 |
Title: | Douze Etudes || Étude II |
Dedication: | Madame la Comtesse d'Agoult |
Preparing the new typesetting of the Etudes, the Breitkopf & Härtel company introduced numerous changes to the note text:
- the pitch error in bar 9 was corrected;
- accidentals were added, e.g., in bar 25 and 56;
- range of dynamic hairpins were changed, often marginally;
- slurs were changed, e.g., in bar 57;
- the use of the octave sign was reviewed – the 1st half of bar 62 was written at the actual pitch;
- the arpeggio signs in bar 68 were combined.
GE2 was published with two graphic variants of the cover, identical as far as the content is concerned. The copy presented in mUltimate Chopin has the cover of the later version, used also in #GE4. Particular Etudes were also published separately, provided with a collective cover including 12 etudes each by Chopin, Henselt and Thalberg.
