Publisher: | Maurice Schlesinger |
Date: | (1838-1842) |
Title: | Etudes || 1re Étude |
Dedication: | Madame la Comtesse d'Agoult |
Revised impression of FE1, in which a few most striking errors were corrected. This Etude corrects, e.g., the mistake in bar 22 together with adding a cautionary accidental at the beginning of bar 23. In this case, the revision of the editor is much more likely – see the note to bar 22. However, generally, Chopin's cooperation in the proofreading of FE2 cannot be excluded, e.g., in bar 35. The mistakes and inaccuracies of FE1 in performance indications, e.g., in pedalling or slurring, were left without correction.
FE3
In Dec. 1842, after purchasing the rights to the Etudes by Henry Lemoine's publishing house, FE2 was provided with a new cover and the plate number was changed to 2776. HL. No changes were introduced to the score, printed from Schlesinger's original plates. All three pupils' copies presented in mUltimate Chopin can serve as examples of FE3.
