b. 444-446

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

No L.H. slur in FE

Slur to bar 446 in GE1 (→GE2) & EE

Shorter slur in GE3

..

After slurs in the two previous phrases, the missing slur in the L.H. must be considered an inaccuracy of notation (a similar situation occurs in bars 446-448). Both in GE1 (→GE2) and EE, the slur was added on the basis of the previous phrase; in turn, GE3 adopted a slur compliant with the source version of the slur in the R.H. (until the end of bar 445).

b. 444

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt III

No slur in FE (→EE,GE1GE2)

Slur in GE3

Same slur as our suggestion

..

In the main text, we add a slur with which Chopin would generally provide this motif in analogous situations both in the piano and the orchestral parts (violins I). Such an addition was introduced already in GE3.

b. 444-445

composition: Op. 31, Scherzo in B♭ minor

2 times   in A (→FCGE1) & GE3

  in FE (→EE)

         in GE2

..

One can ponder whether the pedal change under these bars corresponds to Chopin's intention: in three previous, analogous places (b. 334-335, 342-343 and 436-437) those bars are performed on one pedal. In A Chopin overlooked pedalling markings in subsequent bars (until the final passage in this section, b. 460-465), which suggests the composer's temporary distraction. Due to the above reason, in the main text we give a two-bar pedal, modelled after the analogous places. Cf. also the commentary to b. 65-116 and analog.
The pedal change was overlooked in GE2 and restored in GE3. The missing  asterisk in b. 445 in FE (→EE) is an evident inaccuracy in this context.

b. 445-446

composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor

Slur in EE

Slurs in GC, literal reading

Contextual interpretation of GC (→GE), and FE

..

In GC the slur extends as far as b. 445, which in this context must be considered inaccurate the same as in GE. This too long and imprecise slur may have occured already in [A1] as EE has a slur that results most probably from misinterpreting the composer's intention. In the main text we present slurring of FE and GE.

b. 445

composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor

..

In EE and GC (→GE) there is  before d2, which seems redundant. In FE the accidental was rather erroneously placed  before f2.
