b. 225-227

composition: Op. 19, Bolero

No slur in GE & EE1 (→EE2)

Slur in EE3

..

In GE and EE, there is no little slur for the ending of the trill in bars 225 and 226-227. The missing slurs in GE could be justified by the fact that they were added only in the last proofreading of FE, whereas in EE it could have been an oversight of the engraver. In EE2, the reviser introduced slurs encompassing the main note and the ending of the trill, but only in bars 226-227. The slur in bar 225 was added in EE3.

b. 225

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt III

a3-a3 in FE

b3-a3 in GE, EE & FEH (contextual interpretation)

a3-b3 in FEH, literal reading

..

The version of FE is almost certainly erroneous: both the missing interval of an octave before the topmost note of the passage and repetition of this note disrupt the regular melodic and pianistic nature of the figuration – cf. analogous phrases in bars 221 and 228-231. The correction of the text in the remaining editions was most probably introduced on the basis of comparison with the analogous bars. Moreover, a correction is written also in FEH; however, it was not the sixth but the seventh semiquaver that was changed, probably by mistake.

b. 225

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt III

..

In the main text, we add a cautionary  before a3. In turn, we omit the  before a1 in the chord in the L.H., which is present in FE (→EE). Its absence in GE may mean that it was added in the last phase of proofreading (cf. bar 221).

In FEH, a '1' was initially written over the 2nd quaver (by mistake?  – cf. bar 228), which was then changed to a '5'.
