composition: Op. 27 No 2, Nocturne in D♭ major

In A, Chopin marked with extra crotchet stems the progression c sharp-d-e flat, evidently in connection with the span of the semiquaver figures and the actual possibility of sustaining the marked notes with the fingers. In GE1 (→FE→EE) c at the beginning was mistakenly sustained instead of d at the end of bar 44. In GE2 the omitted stem for d was added. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in GE |

In GE, the four last notes of the R.H.: e flat1-f1-e flat1-d flat1, are placed - against their rhythmic values - precisely above the four last semiquavers of the L.H. (e flat-c1-g flat-A flat). In A (→GE) the sustaining of notes d flat with the hand is marked only in bar 64. When proofing FE (→EE), Chopin decided to extend that notation to the 2nd half of bar 63 and the entire bar 65. Cf. bars 67-69. category imprint: Differences between sources |
