EE2 - Revised impression of EE1

Publisher: Wessel & Co
Date: ca 1856-1860
Plate number: (W & Co. No. 1642)
Title: Second Concerto
Dedication: Madame Anderson, de Londres

A later impression of EE, in which a few arbitrary changes were introduced, above all, on the basis of comparison with GE1 (in bars 102-103 a clearly erroneous octave sign was added, drawn upon that edition):

  • addition of fingering in bar 7,
  • addition of a cautionary  before d1 in bar 43,
  • addition of cautionary flats in bar 227,
  • change of  to  in bar 311,
  • addition of an octave sign in bars 337-340 (erroneous),
  • addition of the range of the octave sign in bar 423,
  • addition of c1 in the chord in bar 491.

In bar 366 and 368, an arbitrary version was introduced, probably being convinced that the version of GE1, which was supposed to replace the text of FE, was erroneous.

The slur added in the 2nd movement of the Concertobar 14, indicates that it was a copy of one of the later impressions, marked in our system as GE1a, that was used for comparison.

The copy presented in mUltimate Chopin comes from a reprint endorsed already by Wessel's successors, the Ashdown & Perry company (ca 1864*).
