b. 37

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt II

Wedge in GC (→GE)

No mark in FE (→EE)

..

The absence of the wedge in FE (→EE) is most probably an oversight of the engraver. Anyways, Chopin's resignation from the sign seems to be highly unlikely.

b. 39

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt II

..

The bottom note of the 2nd quaver in FE1 is an erroneous e1, which was corrected already in FE2. The mistake, and in any case the inaccurately written note, must have been in [A], as in GC one can see an identical correction.

b. 40

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt II

e1 in chord in GC (→GE) & FE3 (→FE4)

d1 in chord in FE1 (→FE2EE)

..

The version of FE1 (→FE2EE) – with d1 – is almost certainly erroneous, as in the proofreading of FE3 (→FE4) Chopin returned the version with e1, written in GC (→GE).

b. 40-41

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt II

No accidentals in GC & FE1 (→FE2EE1)

Naturals in GE, FE3 (→FE4) & EE2

..

The absence of accidentals on the 2nd and 3rd beat of bar 40 and 2nd beat of bar 41 in GC and FE1 (→FE2EE1) is almost certainly Chopin's mistake. It is confirmed by naturals raising g1 to g1 in bar 40 and g to g in bar 41, added in the most probably authentic proofreading of FE3 (completed with the last missing  in FE4). Similarly in bars 228-229.

b. 40

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt II

Octave in GC (→GE) & FE

Chord with b2 in EE

..

The version of EE can be authentic; it should have been then considered to be a Chopin improvement. A possibility of Chopin intervention in this place is, however, reduced by the fact of leaving the mistakes in the part of the L.H. without correction – no naturals raising g(1) to g(1) and d1 instead of e1 in the last chord. Therefore, we are probably dealing with a revision or mistake.
