In GC and FE1 (→FE2→EE1) there are no naturals raising g
(1) to g(1) in these bars. The use of E minor chords in this place, although not excluded from the harmonic point of view, would be contrary to the logic of the progression's structure, requiring a clear similarity of bars 40 and 44 and 37 and 41. It is also hard to assume that after 14 subsequent major chords Chopin could have considered an unexpected use of a minor chord to be obvious, i.e. without requiring a more detailed notation, e.g., by adding a cautionary 
before g1 in bar 40. Chopin's mistake is confirmed by naturals raising g1 to g1 in bar 40 and g to g in bar 41, added in the most probably authentic proofreading of FE3 (completed with the last missing 
in FE4). Similarly in bars 228-229.
