Staccato dots at the beginning of bars 2 and 4 consist the most glaring example of German engraver's misrepresenting wedges in GC – the difference between wedges there and dots in neighbouring bars 1, 3 & 5-7 is very distinct. GE did not use any wedges in the whole Sonata. The lack of signs in EE is most probably an oversight.

No accidentals in GC & FE1 (→FE2→EE1)

Naturals in GE, FE3 (→FE4) & EE2

The absence of accidentals on the 2nd and 3rd beat of bar 40 and 2nd beat of bar 41 in GC and FE1 (→FE2→EE1) is almost certainly Chopin's mistake. It is confirmed by naturals raising g1 to g1 in bar 40 and g to g in bar 41, added in the most probably authentic proofreading of FE3 (completed with the last missing  in FE4). Similarly in bars 228-229.

The natural before the 5th quaver in the L.H. in bar 42 (c1) was added only in GE2. There is no natural before the 1st quaver in bar 43 (d1) in FE (→EE1); Chopin added it in GC (→GE), which was repeated in EE2.

In the main text, we include the added in the proofreading of FE3 (→FE4) – most probably by Chopin – sharps raising the f1-f2 grace note to f1-f2. According to us, it was probably a correction of a mistake. Similarly in the recapitulation – bar 242.

In FE1 (→FE2→FE3,EE1), the  before the last chord was erroneously placed at the pitch of d1. The mistake was corrected in FE4 and EE2. In the main text we add a cautionary  before this note.
