The second German edition, in which the text of GE1 was subject to a quite detailed review. The most striking errors of GE1 were corrected, i.a.:
- the incorrect tenth in bar 5 was corrected
- the overlooked staccato dots were added (bars 3, 13-17, 84-85)
- a quaver stem was added in bar 12
- the pedal's release sign was added in bar 20
- a slur in bar 37 was added
- a short accent was added in bar 44
- a note in the L.H. in bar 75 was removed
- erroneous ligatures in bar 77 were removed
- the sign of a reversed accent in bar 79 was corrected
- rests and fermatas in bar 83 were added
In addition, the revisers introduced a number of arbitrary changes:
- the indication was changed to in the entire Polonaise
- the length of the hairpins was revised (they were often extended for an entire bar)
- range of slurs was changed (e.g., bars 7, 32, 24-27, 84-85)
- some of the notes were combined with a common stem in bars 23-27
- staccato dots were added for the 2nd chord in bar 3, in turn, others were removed in bar 38
- a slur was added in bar 40 (correct revision)
- rests were added in the bottom voice in bar 40
- all quavers were combined with one beam in bar 43
- accidentals in bar 69 were added
The edition includes a few new mistakes, out of which the most significant are the oversight of a stem in bar 19 and deletion of hairpins in bar 38.
The numerous entries written in pencil visible in the presented copy are of no source value.
