GE1 is based on FE1. Nothing indicates Chopin's participation in the proofreading of the Polonaise in C minor, however, it cannot be excluded that the composer roughly corrected the Polonaise in E minor (see the characteristics of GE1 for that Polonaise).
The edition generally faithfully recreates the text of FE1, copying also its errors and inaccuracies. The revisers introduced a few arbitrary changes, mostly in the range of slurs and dynamic hairpins. Moreover, some of the superfluous cautionary accidentals were removed (e.g. in bar 44) and a necessary natural was added (also in bar 44). At the same time, a number of new mistakes was committed, mostly concerning the overlooked articulation signs – staccato dots (bars 3, 16-19, 34, 38, 77), wedges (bar 30) – ligatures (bar 42) or dynamic indications (no "z" letter in in bar 30).
The copy presented in mUltimateChopin comes from the earliest impression. There are also copies differing in the price on the cover.
