GE3 - Third German edition
Publisher: | Fr. Kistner |
Date: | circa 1850 |
Title: | Douze Grandes Etudes || No. 4 |
Dedication: | SON AMI F. LISZT |
Third German edition, in which a few revisions of the text of GE2 was performed, e.g. a rall. indication was added in bar 61.
In GE3 there is also a number of common mistakes, e.g.: b instead of g in bar 3 or e instead of g in bar 27, as well as omission of crotchet stems in bar 15. In turn, it is hard to determine whether the lack of the 'e' conjunction in the indication in bars 15-16 is a mistake or a revision.
There are copies of GE3 differing in the details of the cover. The presented copy comes from the latest known impression, ca. 1860. The visible in it handwritten entries are of no source value.
