Title: | Etudes || No. 4 |
Dedication: | son Ami F. Liszt |
Copy of the latest impression of FE2, from the collection of Chopin’s works belonging to his pupil Jane Stirling. It contains deletion of bars 32-33 and 36-53, allowing for an amateur performance of the Etude without the more technically difficult virtuoso parts. In this context, it is the fingering written in bars 39 and 41-42 that draws attention, hence in the deleted part. It was probably copied from another pupil's copy. Moreover, in the copy two printing errors were also corrected, in bars 65 and 74.
