Accents in FEcor

 in FE (→GE,EE

..

In the main text we give long accents written by Chopin in FEcor. Both signs were clearly distorted in finished FE (→GE,EE).
Ap has – as in the previous bar – meticulously marked   waves and  in the L.H. in this place. We do not consider these indications in the main text.

In CLI and Ap the 7th and 15th semiquavers are written as a1. At the same time, the notation of Ap is faultless, whereas in CLI there is no  returning a1 on the 4th beat of the bar. The latter also appears in FEcor, in which Chopin added the , yet only before the last note. It was moved to the correct position only in a later proofreading of FE (→EE2EE3), which, eventually, displays an entirely correct text.
In GE and EE4 further revisions concerning this section (from the 7th semiquaver to the end of the bar) were performed, adding or removing cautionary accidentals. The modifications do not change the meaning of the text, they only influence its transparency.

Neither in CLI nor in Ap there are cautionary naturals before the 2nd crotchet in the L.H. Chopin would add signs at different stages of the Etude's publication preparations – before in the base text for FE, before in a later proofreading.

In the version prepared for printing Chopin decided to shorten the D-d octave in the previous bar and not here.

We add a cautionary  before c2. A similar addition was introduced in GE4 (→GE5).
