b. 57

composition: Op. 24 No. 2, Mazurka in C major

..

The extent of the slur in the L.H. that begins in A on the 3rd crotchet of bar 56 is not quite clear. In the editors' opinion that slur probably led to the deleted chord at the beginning of bar  57. In GE1 (→FE) it was brought as far as the 2nd crotchet, which does not follow in any way from A. That notation, incomprehensible in the context, was changed in EE, as well as in GE2 (→GE3) in the manner that we consider to be the most proper reading of A.

b. 57-68

composition: Op. 24 No. 2, Mazurka in C major

Asterisks  in A

GE1 (→FEEE)

GE2 (→GE3)

..

In this entire fragment the  marks are clearly placed in A at the end of the bar, after the 3rd crotchet.  Still, in GE1 (→FEEE) they were placed under the 3rd crotchet in all the bars. In GE2 (→GE3) the asterisks were moved to the right (with the exception of bar 57), yet in some cases (e.g. in bars 59-60) the ultimate effect of the introduced change is not clear.

b. 57

composition: Op. 24 No. 2, Mazurka in C major

..

There are traces of corrections at the beginning of this bar in A. The note A flat1 was entered by Chopin instead of a deleted chord, most probably the same as the two further chords .

b. 57-69

composition: Op. 24 No. 2, Mazurka in C major

Without slurs in A (→GE1FEEE)

Small slurs in GE2 (→GE3)

..

In bars 57, 61, 65 and 69 the double grace note in GE2 (→GE3) was furnished with a slur linking it to the crotchet.

b. 58-59

composition: Op. 24 No. 2, Mazurka in C major

The slur in A (a more probable reading) and FE (→EE1EE2)

A less probable reading of A, GE and EE3

..

The point where the slur over bar 59 exactly begins is not clear in A; most probably the slur extends from the quavers at the beginning of that bar, just like in more clearly notated analogous bars  63 and 67. This is how it was initially interpreted in GE1 (→FEEE1EE2), in which it was then prolonged (the traces of the deleted initial slur start are visible in GE1). Ultimately, GE has a slur beginning on f2 in bar 58, which is most probably due to Chopin's intervention (see the note to bars 62-63). That last-mentioned version was also introduced in EE3.
