b. 55

composition: Op. 24 No. 2, Mazurka in C major

No dot in A (→GE2GE3)

A dot in  GE1 (→FEEE)

..

In GE1 (→FEEE) the sixth e1-c2 has a staccato dot. This is most probably a mistake - the dot was to refer to the 1st crotchet of that bar. The sign was removed in GE2 (→GE3). Cf. the note to bar 53.

b. 56-57

composition: Op. 24 No. 2, Mazurka in C major

 in A (→GE2GE3)

 in GE1 (→FEEE)

..

In A, the pedal mark  is entered under the 3rd crotchet of bar 56 and clearly refers to that crotchet. Nonetheless, in GE1 (→FEEE) it was put in bar 57. The inaccuracy was corrected in GE2 (→GE3).

composition: Op. 24 No. 2, Mazurka in C major

A single bar line in A

A double bar line in GE (→FEEE)

..

A has a single bar line here. Chopin sometimes used double bar lines but did not add them automatically to indicate changes of key, where their significance is mostly conventional. Such a routine addition was made in GE (→FEEE). A similar situation appears in bar 88.

b. 57

composition: Op. 24 No. 2, Mazurka in C major

 in A (→GE2GE3)

 in GE1 (→FEEE)

..

Placing the  mark in this bar in GE1 (→FEEE) is the result of lack of understanding of the notation of A.
