First English edition, based on a copy of GE1 without the final alterations. The base text was edited (with the addition of abundant fingering, i.a.) by Brinley Richards. Despite this, EE1 contains a considerable number of errors and inaccuracies, among others:
- omitting the information on the opus number,
- erroneously placed quaver beam in bar 11,
- omitted slurs in bar 24, 43, 122, 163, omitted fragment of a slur in bar 117,
- omitted staccato dots in bar 37, wedge in bar 45,
- omitted middle notes of a chord in bar 46,
- c1 (c1?) instead of b in bar 108,
- f instead of d at the end of bar 108,
- omitting all accidentals in the L.H. part in bar 122,
- instead of in bar 247.
Moreover, some mistakes from the base text were left uncorrected, e.g.:
- confusing rhythmic notation in bar 96,
- overlooked to the top note of the penultimate R.H. quaver in bar 164,
- overlooked restoring b1 in bar 245.
The revisions introduced into EE1 concern mainly accidentals, e.g. omitting the unnecessarily repeated a1 in bar 31.
