b. 106

composition: Op. 38, Ballade in F major

 in A

No  in FE, EE & GCGE

..

In A  in this bar is written under the corrected version of the deletion in the L.H. and remained unnoticed by the copyist (which was passed to GE) and the engravers of FE and EE.

b. 106

composition: Op. 38, Ballade in F major

..

Due to an oversight, in FE1 there is no upper part of the L.H. in the 2nd half of bar 106. The part was completed in FE2, yet without the  lowering e1 to e1, which was added only in FE3.

b. 106

composition: Op. 25 No 10, Etude in B minor

..

FE has F-f and f1-fas the 3rd quaver in the bar. In GC (→GE) Chopin changed the notation to the more rational G-g and g1-g2. He introduced a similar change probably also in the base text to EE, which is proved by the unnecessary sharps left before the 4th quaver.

b. 106-108

composition: Op. 26 No 2, Polonaise in E♭ minor

Pedalling in A & GE2 (→GE3GE4)

No signs in FE

 in bar 106 in GE1 & EE

..

The lack of pedal signs in FE in bars 106-108 is certainly a mistake. The markings – pedalling and also L.H. slurs – are omitted up to the end of the page (till bar 110). All the remaining editions supplemented the pedalling with a  sign in bar 106, but the markings in bars 107-108 were added only in GE2 (→GE3GE4).

b. 106

composition: Op. 64 No 2, Waltz in C♯ minor

g-c1-e1 in As, A (→FEEE) &i GE2op (→GE3op)

g-e1 in AI, GE1op & GE1no2 (→GE2no2)

..

Same as in bar 42, the triad version of the majority of the editions, reproducing – perhaps inaccurately – the difficult to decipher notation of A, is, according to us, most probably erroneous.
