Publisher: | Wessel & Co. |
Date: | (1838-1840) |
Plate number: | (W & Co. No. 1644.) |
Title: | La Favorite. Ballade |
Dedication: | Monsieur le Baron de Stockhausen |
In EE2 a number of changes was introduced, including both accurate additions (e.g. a restoring c2 in bar 34 or flats lowering a(1) to a(1) in bar 89) and arbitrary, certainly erroneous changes, e.g. addition of a raising f1(2) to f1(2) at the beginning of bar 45 and 47 (perhaps on the basis of a comparison with GE).
The presented copy comes from a later impression, in which the individual title page was replaced by a collective one, featuring a list of Chopin's pieces published by Wessel. The contents of this list allow us to date this copy to 1844.
