The mark in A should clearly be read as a long accent and this is precisely its shape in GE1 (→FE). In EE, the mark was shortened to an ordinary short accent, while in GE2 it was extended to the end of the bar. In both AI (in bars 2 & 11) and A Chopin wrote marks at the end of the bar, clearly after the 3rd L.H. crotchet. In GE1 (→FE→EE) the mark was placed under the 3rd crotchet. Some attempts were made in GE2 to correct that inaccuracy, but the outcome is unclear.
