Chord in sources (4 notes)

Our alternative suggestion (3 notes)

According to us, the use of a three-note chord is also acceptable here, like in the analogous bar of exposition.

Fingering written into FEH

No teaching fingering

..

In the analogous bar of exposition (bar 185), a different finger was written down in FEH, third. Both fingering options are convenient, yet the 3rd finger seems to be more natural in the context of the next chord.

No slur in FE (→GE1GE2)

New slur in EE

Extension of slur to end of bar 541 in GE3

Extension of slur to bar 542 suggested by the editors

..

The missing slur must be inadvertence. In EE, the slurring was completed in the simplest manner by adding a slur over the part of the phrase without it. In the main text, we suggest an adequate extension of the slur from the previous bar, in accordance with the slurs in all 5 analogous places. A similar revision was introduced in GE3; however, the slur was led only to the last semiquaver in bar 541.
