In the main text we give the legible and complete notation of A and GE2. The additional slur over the quaver triplet, present in GE1 (→FE→EE), is almost certainly inauthentic – it is possible that both here and in bar 180 only the triplet slurs were initially printed, which Chopin corrected in the discussed bar, by adding a slur compliant with the notation of A. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: GE revisions , Authentic corrections of GE |

Replacing the whole-bar slur of A with a slur embracing only the triplet is undoubtedly an arbitrary decision of the engraver of GE1 (→FE→EE). The authentic notation was restored in GE2. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: GE revisions |

b. 182-183

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III

The slur of GE1 (→FE) – the same in both bars – is probably an attempt to interpret the short, bottom slur in bar 182 (cf. bars 178-180), applied generally to both bars. In turn, the version of EE is an interpretation of these slurs – certainly arbitrary – in which, on the one hand, one wanted to preserve a close similarity to the version of the base text (FE), and, on the other hand, to relate it to a possibly natural performance. GE2 reproduced the whole-bar slurs of A, without the bottom slur in bar 182. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: EE revisions , Errors in GE , GE revisions |

The version of FE (→EE) is undoubtedly a Chopin improvement, introduced in the proofreading of FE1. category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations issues: Authentic corrections of FE |
