Title: Second Concerto
Dedication: Madame la Comtesse Delphine Potocka née de Komar

In GE2 the text of GE1 was subject to a thorough revision, particularly compared to A (versions of A were restored in certain situations even there where changes in GE1 were performed probably by Chopin, e.g. the first chord in the L.H. in bar 25, slurs in bar 88). The changes encompassed pitch, rhythm and, above all, dynamic and articulation markings, including slurring.

Examples of described revisions are presented below, divided into groups.

Pitch or rhythm:
  • a few pronounced defects mentioned in the characterization of GE1 were corrected – bar 20293941, two out of three mistakes in bar 80bar 8387;
  • a few changes of uncertain authenticity mentioned in the characterization of GE1 were reversed – bar 4181;
Slurring:
Inne znaki:
  • staccato dots were added, e.g. in bars 7-17, 26-28, 80,
  • accents were added, e.g. in bar 2123, 35,
  • tenuto dashes were restored in bar 18 and 86,
  • the erroneous change of pedal was removed in bar 27.
In the fragments where, due to rhythmic and textural similarity of both hands, Chopin marked articulation only in the R.H. (mostly staccato dots or slurs), GE2 would generally add articulation markings in the L.H., e.g.:

If slurs in parts of both hands differed in GE1GE2 would unify them, e.g. in bar 6364.

Revision of accidentals was performed, adding overlooked signs, e.g. in bar 1022406065.

In spite of a very detailed revision, certain mistakes remained unnoticed, e.g. no change of clefs in bars 49-50, no flats lowering g1(2) to g1(2) in bar 62.

Having been edited after Chopin's death, GE2 has no influence on the determination of the text. There are copies of GE2 differing in the price on the cover.

A few annotations made in pencil, visible in the presented copy, are of no source value.
