GE1 is based on GC, whose text underwent a careful revision, which detected the vast majority of the manuscript's defects:
- the erroneously written notes in bar 2, 8, 24, 32 and 66 were corrected;
- a restoring d2 in bar 53 was added.
In addition, cautionary signs were added, e.g., flats at the beginning of bar 35. However, some of the changes introduced in GE1 are not justified and they change the text, e.g.:
In spite of revisions, not all defects were detected, e.g., no naturals in bar 12.
Nothing indicates Chopin's participation in the preparation of GE1.
