EE1 is based on a copy of FE2 with annotations (proofreading) by Chopin, it also bears clear traces of editorial revision (see the 1st mov. of the Sonata). Among the changes introduced in EE1 with respect to FE2, it is the removal of two additional bars from between bars 46 and 47 that is the most important, performed undoubtedly by Chopin. In addition, a few accidentals were added, which – not excluding a possible intervention of the composer – may be, however, ascribed to revisers:
- cautionary naturals before c1(2) in bar 9;
- flats restoring g(1) in bar 51;
- naturals before the 8th quaver in bar 63.
In spite of Chopin proofreading and revision, not all mistakes and inaccuracies of EE1 were removed, e.g. no naturals before the 10th quaver in bar 12.
