Title: Trois Valses || Valse | No. 2
Dedication: Madame La Baronne Nathaniel de Rothschild

The first French edition, based on A. Chopin probably proofread it twice, which is indicated by comparison with GE1, in which some, yet not all, of the corrections introduced in FE1 were included. Among the changes included in GE1 one can mention:

  • cautionary  before d in bar 8 and analog.,
  •  in bar 15 and analog.,
  • naturals lowering d1 to d1 on the 3rd beat of bar 45 and analog.
  • tie sustaining g1 in bars 153-154.

The undoubtedly Chopin interventions appear among the corrections of the last phase, not included in GE:

  • changing c to C in bar 32 and 160,
  • adding an a1 to the fourth on the 3rd beat of bar 45 and analog.,
  • changing the key signature in the D  major part, by adding the 5th flat,
  • changing the part of the L.H. in bars 75-76,
  • adding poco ritenuto in bars 92-93,
  • adding a g1 in bars 159-160.

In FE1 a number of mistakes was committed, e.g.:

  • the  signs in bars 31-32 and 103-104 were overlooked.
  • the slurs in the L.H. in bars 68-69, 72-73 and 88-89 were reproduced inaccurately,
  • the tie of f2 in bars 81-82 was overlooked.

While working on the second part of the Waltz, not written out with notes in A in the overwhelming majority of the cases, the engraver of FE used the already engraved pages of the edition instead of the earlier notation of A as the base text. It is indicated by recurring mistakes in analogous places, e.g., missing  hairpins in bars 9 and 137, or slurs in bars 10-11 and 138-139.

Certain changes introduced in FE1 could have been a result of revision, e.g., added accidentals.
