A second German edition of this Waltz. A comparison with the history of separate German editions of the Waltz in D major, No. 1 – a chronological counterpart of GE2no2 is GE4no1 – could suggest an existence of an undiscovered impression (edition?) between GE1no2 and GE2no2. However, it seems to be unlikely, taking into account the fact that GE1no2 (with a changed cover) was available still three years before GE2no2 was published, probably also later.
GE2no2 introduced a number of changes and additions with respect to GE1no2, some being corrections of mistakes and oversights, some were arbitrary (e.g., sustaining c2 in bars 27-28 and 155-156 or combining slurs in bars 54-55). Their main goal was to unify analogous places:
- shortening (bars 1-2, 17-18) or adding (bars 5-6) hairpins;
- adding pedalling and a slur in the L.H. in bar 4;
- adding pedalling in bar 22, while removing it in bar 158;
- adding in bars 31-32;
- removing c1 from the chords in bar 42, adding it in bar 128;
- extending pedal in bars 61-62 and 85-86;
- adding pedalling in bars 73 and 89.
Moving the slur to the top voice in bars 5-6 may also be considered to be a correction.
