b. 51-52

composition: (Op. 4), Sonata in C minor, Mvt IV

Slur to b. 52 in A

Slur to d4 in GE (→FE,EE,IE)

..

As in the two previous analogous situations, in GE (→FE,EE,IE) the slur was arbitrarily shortened, as it was led only to the end of the bar.

b. 51-52

composition: (Op. 4), Sonata in C minor, Mvt IV

Slur in A

No slur in GE (→FE,EE,IE)

..

The missing slur in GE (→FE,EE,IE) is almost certainly due to an oversight by the engraver of GE.

b. 52-53

composition: (Op. 4), Sonata in C minor, Mvt IV

..

In A a few necessary accidentals are missing – in the L.H. part the  to A in bar 52 and the  to c1 in bar 53 were omitted, while in the R.H. part the naturals to a3 in both bars. In GE (→EE,IE) only the first three were added; all accidentals are present only in FE.

b. 52-53

composition: (Op. 4), Sonata in C minor, Mvt IV

..

In A Chopin unnecessarily repeated a  before the e3 minim and the quaver in bar 52. The former was already omitted in GE (→FE,EE,IE), and in the main text we omit both.
In the main text we include the cautionary  to c at the beginning of bar 53, added in GE (→FE,EE,IE).

Wedge suggested by the editors

..

The absence of the wedge over the third out of the four chords ending similar four-bar phrases (bar 44, 48, 52 and 56) are to be considered Chopin's oversight, hence in the main text we suggest adding this wedge.
