b. 105-108

composition: Op. 26 No 2, Polonaise in E♭ minor

..

In A almost the entire reprise (bars 105-171) is written in an abbreviated manner, in the form of empty numerated bars, corresponding to bars 1-67. Moreover, an additional explanation for the engraver is given: "bars counted from the beginning" [on compte les mesures du commencement].

b. 105-106

composition: Op. 64 No 3, Waltz in A♭ major

 in A

No sign in GE1op & GE1Ab (→GE2Ab)

 in #GE2 op (→GE3op)

..

In the main text, we give the  hairpin on the basis of A. The versions of the editions are either an inaccurate image of A, as it is in the case of FE (→EE), or a result of a revision unifying similar places – GE2op (→GE3op). In the remaining GE the sign was overlooked.

b. 105-107

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I

..

In the sources there is no  returning on the 7th quaver in bar 105. Similarly, in bar 107 Chopin overlooked a  before f1. Those patent mistakes were undiscovered both by the revisers of the editions (in total 7 proofreadings in 3 editions) and by Chopin himself, who had to look at those places at least once, when, proofreading FE1, he added slurs embracing the discussed notes in both bars.

No slur in A (→GE)

Slur in FE, literal reading

Slur in EE

Slur in FE, interpretation suggested by the editors

..

The slur under four quavers was undoubtedly added by Chopin in the proofreading of FE (→EE). However, the notation of FE does not clearly state whether the slur is actually supposed to concern the quavers of the top voice or of both; in other words, whether it is to start from the tied a quaver or from the e minim. In EE the slur was moved over the quavers, which, although graphically contrary to Chopin's notation, seems to be a skillful solution of this dilemma – the slur concerns the top voice, but it embraces the bottom one too. We suggest this solution as an alternative one in analogous bar 107.
