First French edition based on a lost autograph [A]. It was corrected by Chopin, as proven by, among others, the traces of corrections visible in FES in bar 13, in which Chopin changed a L.H. chord from g-d1-f1 to f-g-d1. GE are based on a proof copy of FE1 (prior to the corrections) – as evidenced by aforementioned bar 13.
In this edition, a few mistakes and inaccuracies were committed:
- f1 instead of g1 in bar 14,
- the slur not reaching the f1 minim in bar 16,
- overlooked mordent in bar 22 (we assume it was an oversight on the basis of a comparison with As and similar bars 18, 26 and 30).
FE1 also contains the initial version of the bottom R.H. voice melody in bar 23, which Chopin changed while proofreading FE2.
