b. 69-70
|
composition: Op. 44, Polonaise in F♯ minor
..
In b. 69, which ends the line, the slur of FE clearly suggests that it should be continued; however, b. 70 does not include its ending. In b. 302-303, which are a literal repetition of the discussed bars, there is no slur at all; this mistake impedes a direct reproduction of the ending of the discussed slur. In this situation, we assume that the slur was supposed to reach the end of b. 70, like in analogous b. 44 and 277, and this is the version we suggest in the main text. In GE the slur reaches – like in the aforementioned bars – the c1 minim only, which may but does not have to correspond to the notation of [A]. category imprint: Graphic ambiguousness; Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in FE |

As was the case with b. 43, GE2 arbitrarily separated the topmost note of the 1st chord, making a crotchet out of it. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: GE revisions |

The version of the editions may have resulted from a wrong interpretation of Chopin's notation, which may be unclear in similar situations, e.g. there are notes in a chord that do not have any contact with the stem. Due to that reason, in the main text we suggest the notation of analogous b. 43, which seems to be more logical – cf. b. 17. The same applies to b. 302. category imprint: Editorial revisions |

As with other analogous places, in FE (→EE) the L.H. part octaves (from the 2nd beat of the bar to the end of the bar) are written in a simplified manner with the use of con 8va. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Abbreviated octaves' notation |
