Title: | Twenty four Grand Préludes through all Keys |
Dedication: | His Friend Camille Pleyel |
First English edition in which the whole Op. 28 was divided into two fascicules bearing consecutive plate numbers (3098 & 3099), and containing respectively 14 and 10 preludes. EE1 is based on FE2, with some arbitrary revisions – see Prelude in C no. 1. Chopin had no part in preparing the edition.
In the Prelude in G minor, overlooked accidentals were added, e.g. in b. 3 and 43, 24-27, 27-32, as well as the unobvious in b. 30. Cautionary accidentals were also added, e.g. a before f1 in b. 13 and 27, while in b. 40 the unnecessarily repeated before f1 was removed. In addition, a wrong note in b. 1 was corrected, a R.H. slur was added in b. 29-30, and the horizontal accents in b. 37-38 were replaced with vertical ones.
EE1 committed errors as well, e.g. B instead of c in b. 32, instead in b. 51 or missing dots extending the D-d minim in b. 76.
