Title: | 24 Préludes |
Dedication: | Son ami Camille Pleyel |
First French edition based on A, in which the whole cycle of Preludes was divided in two books, 12 pieces each. Chopin did not participate in its preparation – proofreading of FE1, which included supplemented accidentals and pedalling, was conducted by Julian Fontana. For a general description of FE1 in the entire Op. 28 – see Prelude in C no. 1.
In the Prelude in G minor, none of the accidentals overlooked by Chopin were added, yet the superfluous sharps before a1-a2 at the beginning of b. 37 were removed. In addition, pedal markings were added in b. 64. In turn, the list of defects is much longer:
- mistake in b. 1 – f1 instead of e1 as the 4th quaver;
- combining the slurs in b. 4-5 and 44-45 (written separately in A);
- overlooked slur over the bottom R.H. voice in b. 21 and 28;
- overlooked ties to B in b. 21-22 and to f in b. 32;
- overlooked accidentals before the L.H. chord in b. 35;
- overlooked accent in b. 61;
- overlooked tie to d in b. 64-65.
