Title: | Twenty four Grand Préludes through all Keys |
Dedication: | His Friend Camille Pleyel |
In this version of EE an individual title page was replaced by a serial one comprising a list of Chopin's works published by Wessel to date. In the copy presented in mUltimate Chopin it contains pieces up to the Impromptu in G op. 51. This allows us to determine the probable date of the publication of EE1a*. The only change to the music text was introduced in this Prelude – a mistaken a1 was corrected to f1 in bar 13. Taking into account a few other serious uncorrected flaws (e.g. in Preludes in G
minor no. 12, in F
no. 13 or in E
minor no. 14), it becomes clear that EE1a was not regularly proofread, and the described correction was possibly made only on the occasion of adding "Book 1, of" to the caption title on that page.
