FE2 - Corrected impression of FE1

Publisher: Adolphe Catelin et Cie
Date: (VIII⇒) 1839
Plate number: Ad. C. (560) et Cie
Title: 24 Préludes
Dedication: Son ami Camille Pleyel

FE2 was printed not long after FE1. In the entire Op. 28, FE2 contains some alterations, mostly corrections of the errors of FE1. Most probably they were also made by J. Fontana although it is not possible to entirely exclude the participation of Chopin, indirect as it may have been. An extensive list of changes as well as more information on FE3 (a later reprint of FE2, endorsed by the Brandus et Cie publishing house) are to be found in the description of FE2 in the Prelude No. 1 in C major.

In the Prelude in F minor, the notation of accidentals was randomly checked:

  • a  lowering f to f in b. 4 was added,
  • the erroneous  raising f1 to f1 in b. 8 was removed,
  • the superfluous  before in the 2nd half of b. 9 was removed,
  • a  raising f1 to f1 in b. 13 was added,
  • the necessary accidentals on the 4th beat of b. 22 were added.
