IE as more or less an exact reproduction of FE is the only edition based on a printed source and not the manuscript. Ricordi’s surname insertion on the title page of the second printing of FE proves a close relation between the two editions.
IE is in general mostly compatible with FE, however, it is not void of errors or inaccuracies, e.g. omission of a dot extending the crotchet in b. 34 or a slur in b. 236. Some arbitrary changes were also introduced, e.g. into slurring (b. 40).
