b. 395

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt III

Accent on a2 in FE (literal reading→EE)

Accent on b1 in GE

Long accent on b1 in FE, possible interpretation

..

The meaning of the accent of FE (→EE) placed under a2, at the pitch of b1, is unclear. When interpreted literally, it is a short accent on a2, which we give in the main text. However, it is possible that we are dealing with an inaccurately reproduced long accent under b1 (cf. the notation of some of the accents in the Concerto in F Minor, Op. 21, the 1st mov., bars 4-5 or in the Etude in A Minor, Op. 10 No. 2, bars 45-46). The latter is supported by an analogy with the previous bar. The mark was similarly interpreted in GE

b. 395-399

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt III

..

In the main text, we add a cautionary  before b1 in bars 395 and 399. The accidentals were added also in GE3.

Wedges in FE (→EE,GE1GE2)

No marks in GE3

..

The absence of wedges in GE3 seems to be intentional – the marks in these bars could have been considered erroneous, whereas Chopin could have wanted to mark in this way only the final progression (from bar 402). According to us, it is more likely that it is the missing marks in bars 399-402 that are a result of an oversight.

Neither slur nor tie in FE (→GE)

Slur & tie in EE

EE repeated here the arbitrary version of analogous bars 393-394

b. 398-399

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt III

2 slurs from 2nd note in FE

Different slurs in GE1 (→GE2) & EE

2 slurs from first note in GE3

..

Two subsequent slurs starting later than in the adjacent figures must be an inaccuracy of FE, partially repeated in GE1 (→GE2) and EE. In the main text, we move the beginnings of the slurs to over the 1st semiquaver, in accordance with the musical sense and analogous figures. Such a revision was introduced already in GE3.
