Title: | Les Plaintives! Deux Nocturnes. 8e. Nocturne |
Dedication: | Madame la Comtesse d'Appony |
EE1 repeats the text of FE1 with a number of changes and additions, mostly referring to performance markings (e.g. L.H. slurs in bars. 2-6, an accent in bar 4, a tie sustaining a flat1 in bar 27, a slur in bar 31, in bar 32). Chopin did not take part in its preparation.
EE1 displays most of the typical features of Wessel's publications: fingering markings, wavy slurs, notation of grace notes and minims and an arbitrarily added title.
EE2. Beginning from 1843, subsequent impressions of EE contained the correction of the error in Nocturne in C sharp minor Op. 27 no. 1. Due to the fact that an individual title page of the opus was replaced with a collective one, the dedication was omitted in EE2. As no changes were introduced to the musical text of the Nocturne in D flat major, we do not list EE2 as a separate source. Photos of the pages with the Nocturne in D flat major in the copy of EE2 can be viewed as final pages of the Nocturne in C sharp minor.
