When writing A, Chopin overlooked the fact that in the passage ending the run a is necessary not only before the last note but also four notes earlier in order to lower c3 to c flat3 (or only before that earlier note, depending on the adopted principle for accidentals before notes with an octave sign). The error was corrected in GE (→FE) by moving the before the fifth note counting from the end of the bar. In EE this corrected notation was supplemented by again adding the sign before the last note. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: EE revisions , Accidentals in different octaves , GE revisions |

The rhythmic group on the 4th quaver of the bar was mistakenly written in A with the use of notes with twice as long rhythmic values : . In GE that mistake was only partly corrected: , and it was in FE (→EE) that the correct text was inserted: . category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Errors in GE , GE revisions , Rhythmic errors , Errors of A , FE revisions |

A has no flats before the last notes of both hands which, given the presence of naturals in the 1st half of the bar, results in e2 and e. There are many arguments pointing to the conclusion that the omission of those flats by Chopin was an oversight. The flat restoring e flat2 was added in GE (→FE→EE), perhaps on the composer's request. We add the necessary restoring e flat; that sign was also supplemented in GE2. category imprint: Differences between sources; Editorial revisions issues: Omissions to cancel alteration , GE revisions , Authentic corrections of GE |

In A, the only pedal mark in bars 66-71 is at the beginning of bar 66. That notation is definitely incomplete, as the next point where the pedal marks appear is the beginning of bar 72 on a new page of the manuscript. In GE, an asterisk was placed at the end of bar 71, probably added as part of editorial revisions. The complete pedalling for those bars was supplemented by Chopin in the proofing of FE (→EE). category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations issues: GE revisions , Authentic corrections of FE , No pedal release mark |
