composition: Op. 27 No 2, Nocturne in D♭ major

A more probable interpretation of the accent in  A

 The accent in GE (→FEEE)

..

The accent in A is not a typical long accent, yet this interpretation becomes much more probable if we take into account the analogous phrases of  the Nocturne and similar context in other works. The editions have a short accent here..

composition: Op. 27 No 2, Nocturne in D♭ major

A more probable interpretation of the staccato sign in A

A dot in  GE (→FEEE)

..

It is not certain which staccato sign Chopin actually had in mind in A. The comparison with analogous situations makes us consider a wedge to be more likely than a dot. Still, the editions have the dot.

composition: Op. 27 No 2, Nocturne in D♭ major

A long accent in A (→GE)

A short accent in  FE (→EE)

..

A long accent from A (→GE) was reproduced in FE (→EE) as a short one. This is certainly the engraver's inaccuracy.

composition: Op. 27 No 2, Nocturne in D♭ major

A vertical accent in  A (→GE2)

Without an accent in GE1 (→FEEE)

..

A (→#Wn2) has a vertical accent that was omitted in GE1 (→FEEE), most probably by mistake.
