b. 326

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III

Short accent to R.H. in A (→GE)

Short accent to L.H. in FE

Vertical accent to L.H. in EE

Long accent to R.H. suggested by the editors

..

The type of the accent used by Chopin at the beginning of this bar is unclear. The shape of the sign suggests a short accent, and this is how it was reproduced in GE. However, in all similar bars – bars 4, 10, 26, 28, 328, 334 and 336 – the accent in the R.H. is a long accent. Due to this reason, in the main text we suggest a long accent. The versions of FE and EE are inauthentic: the first is inaccurate, whereas the second – clearly erroneous.

b. 326-328

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III

Staccato dots in A & GE2

No marks in GE1 (→FE)

Dot in bar 328 in EE

..

Omission of the staccato dots under in bars 326 and 328 must be a mistake of GE1 (→FE). The sign in bar 328 was added in EE most probably on the basis of comparison with analogous bar 336. In GE2 the dots were added in accordance with A.

b. 327-329

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III

Wedges in A

Dots in GE

Dot in bar 329 in FE (→EE)

..

The wedges in bars 327 and 329 were reproduced in GE (→FEEE) as dots; at the same time, the sign in bar 327 was overlooked in FE (→EE), perhaps due to the erroneous slur.

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III

Grace note c2 in A (→GE) & EE

Grace note a1 in FE

..

The version of FE, although generally possible, is most probably a mistake – cf. bar 3. It was considered a Terzverschreibung error already in EE.

b. 328

Long accent in A (→GE)

No mark in FE (→EE)

The missing long accent in FE (→EE) is almost certainly an oversight.
