b. 65

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt II

d(1) in A (→GE1)

d(1) in FE (→EE) & GE2

Idem, R.H. only

..

The missing flats returning d(1) on the 6th semiquaver of the 2nd half of the bar in A (→GE1) is most probably Chopin's mistake. In any case, flats added in the proofreading of FE (→EE) dissipate any doubts about his final intention. Cf. bar 69.

If in bar 64 the version with harmonic accompaniment was chosen, the first or third version is to be selected here.

b. 65-68

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt II

Slurs only in R.H. in A (→GE1FE)

Slurs also in L.H. in EE & GE2

..

The slurs in bars 65 and 67-68, which in A (→GE1FE) are placed only over the R.H., were added in EE and GE2 also in the part of the L.H. We do not include these additions in the main text, since the notation of A does not seem to be incomplete in this fragment (cf. bars 57-61). The slurs in bars 66-67 and 69, added already in GE1, are discussed separately – see bars 66-69.

b. 65

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt II

Slur from 2nd note in A (→GE1)

Slur from 1st note in FE (→EE) & GE2

..

The moment of beginning the slur over the 2nd half of the bar is unclear both in A and in GE1 – we assume that it starts from the 2nd semiquaver. In the remaining editions, the slur starts from the 1st semiquaver, which can be considered an alternative interpretation of A. In EE and GE2 an analogous slur for the L.H. was added.

b. 65

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt II

Dots from 1. note in A

Dots from 2nd note in GE1 (→FEEE)

Dots from 2nd note in GE2 (both hands)

..

In A staccato dots are written over all semiquavers in the R.H. However, GE1 and subsequent editions overlooked the first of them, and it cannot be excluded that it was Chopin's proofreading. In GE2 the 12 dots were repeated under the part of the L.H., which is only a formal intervention, since dots (and slurs) in the Chopin notation are certainly binding for both hands.

b. 65-66

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt II

Slur up to crotchet in A, contextual interpretation

Slur up to end of bar in A (literal reading→GEFEEE)

..

It is uncertain whether the slur of A (→GE1) written in bar 65 is supposed to reach the beginning of bar 66 or not. In the main text we adopt the first possibility due to a number of corrections visible in A, in which the slurs were extended to the note ending the phrase, falling at the beginning of the bar (e.g. in bars 36-37 and 41-42).
In the remaining editions the slur ends with the last semiquaver in bar 65 and in EE and GE2 an analogous slur for the L.H. was added.
